Monsieur Jacquard has been quite indulgent with his daughter, recognizing her profitable talents and ambition early on. La luxure et désir has only been around for six years but has already rose to fame in P'ree, the designs made by Mme. Jacquard being much sought after among the upper class and even Frrench nobility.
✦ Her products come in two forms; readily made simple pieces that she will do some tailoring on to an ensure an easier fit; these are skirts, tops, simple dresses, trousers, gloves, etc. Then items that are custom made to varying degrees of complexity. Ranging from anything on her list of available products, but they will all be made from scratch with the clients custom measurements. She doesn't charge extra for this, it's her gift to society to offer custom simple pieces at the same price as anything she might have readily available in her shop. The base prices do, however, only apply to simple pieces as anything easily accessible in her shop will be made under the criteria for that.
✦ She is a designer in addition to expert tailor and corsetière, and happy to create custom pieces either left to her own mastery, off of a base idea from a client, or detailed requests - even designs brought in from other designers unable to translate the quality of work from paper to fabric. Despite her generally cold disposition in public, in business she is about pleasing her customers. It is the only way to build an established clientele.
✦ The amount of detail she puts into each piece can take weeks to months depending on the complexity - quick work should not be expected on anything of her Embellished line. Even some of her Elegant pieces have been known to take up to a month to complete, and as such clients should keep that in mind when placing custom orders.
✦ She will not lower her prices - they are based on quality and the time she spends working hard to create the perfect piece of clothing regardless of what it is being purchased. Haggling will get someone shoved unceremoniously through the door and likely marked unwelcome in her shop.
✦ It is likely she will have a client come in several times through the process to ensure a perfect fit -- likely it can become tedious but it's to ensure everyone is pristine and there are no issues. Similar to this effect if something should go wrong with any of her clothing, that is not the result of blatant abuse, she is all too willing to fix it. Be it a torn or loose stitch, a replaced gem, or whatever other misfortune.
✦ Alterations can be done if the piece of clothing was originally purchased from her and has either become too loose or too snug for the buyer to now fit in. This is another service she offers free of charge in the interest of building a good client relationship as her business is built on them.
✦ Most who actually know her find it a surprise that, while her corsets cannot be rivaled, her real talent is in the crafting of wedding dresses. She has brought femmes to their knees in tears over a custom piece designed for their special day -- even noble femmes forced into arranged marriages. When told to 'spare no expense' she will do just that, and the result is usually a stunning gown that will never be replicated. The benefit of her quality being that, if desired, that gown will last through several generations if the femme decides to make it a family tradition for her and her daughter to pass along.
✦ Custom pieces are similar to this respect -- anything that might branch out of a standard blouse, skirt, or dress or gown. These are designed through several sit downs and sketched out multiple times till something has been agreed upon by both designer and buyer. She charges nothing for however many times it is required to work out the details, another benefit she finds crucial to making customers feel welcomed within her business.
✦ Prices for custom pieces and gowns are made based on several different factors. While she doesn't charge for the time it takes to design it, she does charge for everything else. Cost of fabric, thread, time spent working, beadwork, embroidery. Every fine detail has a cost which will be finalized before the gown has been started. Since these pieces are so intricate and costly she does require a small sum of the agreed upon cost upfront -- this is done to protect her from commissioners backing out after she has already started on a piece since they can be quite difficult to sell or scrap after sewing has begun. She is not a femme who enjoys wasting her time, especially where her business is concerned.
